Watershed Receives the 2016 Environmental Award from Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce
Watershed was honored to receive the 2016 Environmental Award at the 92nd Annual Meeting of the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce.
The meeting is a yearly event that serves to both install new elected officials and recognize the accomplishments of chamber members within the Eastern Shore community. The award was presented to Watershed co-founder Rebecca Dunn Bryant during the June 16th Annual Awards Ceremony at Oak Hollow Farm in Fairhope, AL.
The Environmental Award is presented annually to a member that is proactive in taking steps above and beyond what is required by law to protect the environment and quality of life on the Eastern Shore. The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce is one of only a few chambers in the country that presents such an award, which is accompanied by the planting of a 15-foot live oak tree in honor of the recipient.
Watershed received the Environmental Award in recognition of its commitment to sustainable design that protects our shared resources while inspiring a greater connection to nature.
“We are honored to receive the Environmental Award,” said Bryant on the achievement. “And more importantly, I am very proud to be part of a chamber that recognizes businesses for their commitment to environmentally sustainable practices. The beautiful environment of the Eastern Shore is one of our greatest assets. Clean water, clean air, and access to nature are what make the quality of life so high here.
“All of our businesses should be engaged in protecting what makes this area special, because that quality of life is what attracts people to this area and supports the growth of local businesses. A healthy environment is necessary for a healthy economy.”
