Flying Creek Nature Preserve Breaks Ground

Watershed joined project partners and officials from the City of Fairhope to break ground on the city’s newest park, Flying Creek Nature Preserve, on June 28, 2024.

This 72-acre parcel of land between Fly Creek and Veterans Boulevard in Fairhope will include nature trails, bike trails, outdoor classrooms, a nature center, and connection to the Eastern Shore Trail.

The Watershed team worked alongside Thompson Engineering to create the preserve's Conceptual Master Plan. Once complete, this beautiful forested habitat will be an escape from the built environment, with all elements designed to minimize impacts on the trees and native plants.
