The Pavilion at The Nest Wins a Trio of Awards
Watershed has won a Merit award from AIA Alabama for the design of The Pavilion at The Nest, a living laboratory for Fairhope and Baldwin County school children.
AIA Alabama represents a membership of approximately 600 licensed architects, interns, and affiliates.
The project also recently won an ASLA Honor Award, given by the American Society of Landscape Architects. Rounding out the project’s trio of Fall 2024 awards, it won an Environmental Stewardship Award from Partners for Environmental Progress (PEP).
Earlier in the year, Kacie Hardman, Director of The Pelican’s Nest Science Lab, was named Conservation Educator of the Year at the Governor’s Conservation Awards. These prestigious awards are given by the Alabama Wildlife Federation.
With Kacie at the helm, the new outdoor classroom at The Pelican’s Nest illustrates the fundamentals of marine science for elementary students. It also helps them see how human activities travel downstream, affecting the ecosystems that define our home here on the Gulf Coast.
The Pavilion at the Nest, a certified outdoor classroom in Fairhope, integrates architecture and landscape into a living laboratory for environmental education. Learn more about the project.
