Gulf State Park Master Plan

Watershed served as the Gulf Coast Sustainability Specialist for the Gulf State Park Master Plan.

We worked with Sasaki Associates and a team of local experts to assess the existing park and facilities, organize and run stakeholder meetings, and translate extensive community and stakeholder and community feedback into the final Plan.

The team integrated input from six public open houses, more than 2,600 responses to an online survey, 12 stakeholder meetings, and numerous discussions with public officials. The extensive public feedback identified additional opportunities to expand the enjoyment and use of the park, including pedestrian bridges across the beach highway. Key project elements include enhancing the visitor experience, building a learning campus, creating an interpretive center, re-building the lodge, and restoring the dunes.

The final Plan builds on the park’s unique character to enhance the park as an international benchmark of environmental and economic sustainability, making it a place where every visitor can connect with nature.
